Freel returns for his second season in 2019.

Freel is no stranger to Kean after playing for the Cougars in the early 90s after transferring from the University of Connecticut.  Freel captained the Cougars in his junior and senior seasons and capped off his senior year by being named Kean's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

He most recently served as the Old Bridge High School head coach leading them to their first Central Jersey Group 4 state title (2015) while accumulating 65 wins in his four years as head coach.  Old Bridge collected 20 wins in 2015 (a new program standard).  Prior to OBHS he held stints as an assistant coach at St. Patrick's (Elizabeth), St. Mary's (Elizabeth), Elizabeth, and Linden.

Freel earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Politcal Science/Criminal Justice from Kean in 1993 and is currently a Lieutenant in the Elizabeth Police Department.
