Football Falls to Rowan

Glassboro, N.J. (11/8/14) – The Rowan University football team shut down Kean University, 13-0 in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Profs improve to 5-1 in conference and 6-3 overall.  Rowan now controls their own destiny in the NJAC race as a win on Friday night over The College of New Jersey would give them a share of the conference title.  Tie-breakers with either Morrisville State or Montclair State or both would give the advantage to Rowan for the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
The Cougars drop to 2-7 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

The Profs scored on their opening drive when Dante Tobler dove into the end zone for a two-yard touchdown. Kicker Tyler Knighton's extra point gave Rowan a 7-0 lead with 7:38 left in the first quarter. Knighton converted a 31-yard field goal to end a nine-play, 47-yard drive and the Profs led 10-0 with 9:07 remaining in the second quarter. Rowan increased its lead to 13-0 after a 26-yard field goal by Knighton with 6:54 to go in the third quarter.

Offensively, quarterback Robert Meade III completed six passes for 71 yards. Running back Will Ingram ran for 32 yards on nine attempts. Wide receiver Brandon Robinson caught a 52-yard pass.
Defensive lineman Matt Jamison recorded a game-high 12 tackles and linebacker Corey Miller added 11. Miller (pictured left) also had one tackle for a loss and forced a fumble. Linebacker Stephan Lewis and defensive lineman Nick Gjoni tallied 10 tackles apiece. Sophomore Tom Winters registered 2.5 tackles for a loss (9 yards).

For Rowan, quarterback Bill McCarty was 10-for-14 for 129 yards. Wide receiver Warren Oliver caught six passes for 78 yards.
Kean ends the season on Saturday, November 15th when they host Montclair State University at 1 p.m.
