Former Academic All-American T.J. Denehy will return to be an assistant football coach at Kean University this fall after graduating summa cum laude from Kean in 2012. A Second-Team All-NJAC selection as a wide receiver and punt returner, Denehy is the Cougars’ all-time leader in punt returns (86) and is second in single-season school history with 60 receptions in 2011.
For his academic efforts, he was named a Capital One Academic All-American First-Team member (the first in program history) in 2011 as well as a Second-Team member in 2012. Denehy was also a member of the University’s Dean’s List. Denehy has been inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, Lambda Alpha Sigma, Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Kappa Phi (all honor societies), and was also named the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey Outstanding Student-Athlete Award in 2012.
Denehy previously served as president of the Kean and NJAC student-athlete advisory committees and is currently a graduate student at Kean pursuing his master’s degree.
