Field Hockey Earns First Ever Bid to NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (11/6/17) - The Kean University Field Hockey team earned their first ever selection into the NCAA Tournament when the brackets were released on Sunday evening.

The Cougars earned an at-large bid and drew the Eagles of Juniata College for a first round matchup at Kean Alumni Stadium on Wednesday, Nov. 8th at 6:00 p.m.

The 19-2 Cougars fell in the finals of the NJAC tournament to the defending champion Lions of TCNJ on Saturday, 2-1.

Kean has been placed in the pod that features NJAC rival Montclair State and Christopher Newport receiving first round byes. Franklin & Marshall will square off with Misericordia in the opening round with the winner facing MSU on Saturday. The winner of the Cougars and the Eagles will face Christopher Newport in Newport News, Va. on Saturday.

Juniata won the Landmark Conference after defeating nationally ranked Catholic University in the title game, 2-1 on Saturday. After trailing 1-0, the Eagles scored two goals, including the overtime game-winner in the 75th minute to get the 13-6 Eagles their sixth conference title. Juniata makes their first trip to the NCAA tournament since 2014.
