Late Overtime Goal Thwarts #14 Field Hockey against #4 Franklin & Marshall

SELINSGROVE, Pa. (8/31/18)- Erin Coverdale's goal in the 77th minute dashed the Kean University field hockey teams upset of #4 Franklin & Marshall College on the opening day of the Connie Harnum Classic.

IIianna Santangelo made nine saves for the Diplomats who improve to 1-0 overall. Jenna Patrone tallied a game-high six shots for the Cougars who fall to 0-1 overall.

In regulation, the Cougars edged the Diplomats 9-4 on shots and 8-6 on penalty corners. Patrone had three opportunities to score in the final six minutes, but had all three shots stopped by Santangleo.

Melissa Way recorded two shots, while Emily Van Pelt and Emily DeFalco each recorded a shot apiece. Megan Houser made two saves in 76:04 minutes played, while Taylor Hutchins recorded a defensive save.

Head Coach Leslie LaFronz and the #14 Cougars will return to action tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 1st in the consolation of the Connie Harnum Classic against either Susquehanna or Wilkes.
