UNION, N.J. (9/8/18)- Jenna Patrone scored both Cougar goals as the Kean University field hockey team recorded its first victory of the season with a 2-1 decision over SUNY Oneonta on Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, Kean scored just three minutes in when Patrone ripped a shot from just inside the circle for the 1-0 lead in the 39th minute. After Oneonta evened things up at 1-1 just two minutes later, Patrone notched the game-winner in the 54th minute with a deflected ball during a scrum in front of the cage.
The Cougars edged the Red Dragons on shots (17-8) and corners (13-4). Kayla Molnar took five shots, while Patrone tallied four. Rachel Mills finished with three shots and Megan Houser totaled five saves in 70 minutes of work.
Head Coach Leslie LaFronz and the Cougars will return to action tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 9th, in Scranton, Pa. against the Pacers of Marywood University at 2:00 p.m.
