Way Scores as Field Hockey Falls to #10 Montclair State, 3-1

MONTCLAIR, N.J. (10/2/18)- Melissa Way notched a goal in the 69th minute as the Kean University field hockey team fell to #10 Montclair State University, 3-1 on Tuesday evening.

Amber Haslett scored and assisted on a goal for the Red Hawks who improve to 11-1 overall and 1-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Audrey Treanor tallied an assist for the Cougars who fall to 4-8 overall and 0-2 in the NJAC.

MSU scored three times, including one just before halftime, as the Red Hawks held a commanding 3-0 lead. Kean finally got on the scoreboard in the 69th minute, when a scramble in front of the cage allowed Treanor to find an open Way for the score on the left side.

MSU edged Kean on shots (14-12), while the Cougars edged the Red Hawks on corners (7-5).

Jenna Patrone totaled six shots, while Way and Rachel Mills each tallied two shots apiece.

Head Coach Leslie LaFronz and the Cougars will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 6th, hosting the nationally-ranked Profs of Rowan University at 1:00 p.m.
