Baruch Rallies Late To Top Men's Basketball, 57-53

Ashland, Va. (12/30/11) – The Baruch College men's basketball team used a late rally to defeat Kean University by the final of 57-53 in the consolation matchup in the Randolph-Macon Coaches Classic on Friday evening.

Sophomore Kenny Pace led the Cougars (2-10) with 14 points and was named to the All-Tournament team for his efforts.

The Cougars were leading, 53-45, with 2:05 left in regulation, but the Bearcats scored 12 consecutive points to record the come-from-behind win.  Kean turned over the ball three times in the final minute and the Bearcats capitalized while also connecting on four free throws.

Kean trailed going into the second half, 28-23, but after trading points used a 10-0 run to regain the lead.  The Cougars would hold the lead for the remainder of the second half until the late rally by the Bearcats (7-6).  Kean's defense also held Baruch to no field goals during a nine minute stretch.

Sophomore Kyle Latorre had a double-double 13 points and 13 rebounds while teammate Michael Burton added 13 points of his own.

Kean will start off the new year back in New Jersey Athletic Conference action as they travel to Rowan University on Wednesday, January 4th.
