HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. (12/18/14) – J.J. Hladik scored 12 first-half points but the Kean University men's basketball team fell to host Hampden-Sydney College in the first round of the Luck Stone Holiday Tournament on Thursday night in an 80-56 final.
The Cougars (2-7) led at the break 36-29, as Hladik (pictured left) was 4-for-7 from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes. Tommy Soulias poured in another three treys and Mike Diamond hit a pair as Kean nailed a total of nine three-pointers in the first half, shooting better than 56 percent during that time.
In the second period, Kean cooled off and the undefeated Tigers (6-0) righted their ship. The hosts put up 51 points in the second period, putting the game out of reach.
The Cougars will return to Hampden-Sydney on Friday for the consolation game of the Luck Stone Holiday Tournament at 1 p.m.
