UNION, N.J. (2/3/16) – Justin Watson was 8-for-12 from the floor (67 percent) to lead the Kean University men's basketball team in an 85-55 setback against Rutgers-Newark in NJAC action on Wednesday. The Scarlet Raiders (15-6, 10-4 NJAC) led wire-to-wire in the contest.
Kean (3-17, 3-11 NJAC) was paced by Watson, who finished with 17 points , three assists, three rebounds and two steals. Micah Kerr had seven points and seven boards for the Cougars, while Jodrell Thompson posted a game-best four assists.
The Raiders were led by Jordan McDaniel, who had 21 points. John Snow (15) and Vik Singh (10) also reached double figures for Rutgers.
Kevin Grek hit twice from behind the arc on the night, and Kean shot the ball well during the game, particularly in the second half when the Cougars made 54 percent of their field goals. Keenan Williams Jr. (pictured left) hit his only shot of the game – a three-pointer – with 1:40 remaining.
Kean will remain home this Saturday to host Rowan University at 1 p.m.
