UNION, N.J. (11/19/16) – The Kean University men's basketball team was topped by homestanding Marymount University 63-49 in the first game of the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday.
The Cougars will take on Hamilton College of New York on Sunday in the consolation game of the tournament beginning at 1 p.m. in Arlington, Virginia.
Kevin Grek and Michael Summerer were in double figures for the Cougars with 11 points each. Kean outscored the Saints 28-23 in a second half comeback bid and held Marymount to a .280 shooting percentage in the final 20 minutes.
Jodrell Thompson (pictured left) went 3-3 from the floor and tied with Grek for a team-best three assists. Grek led the Cougars in points, assists, steals (4) and rebounds (5). Justin Watson also had five boards for Kean.
Brandon Rodgers put up 15 points for the Saints to lead all scorers.
Marymount is now 1-1 on the young season. Kean sinks to 0-2 with the loss.
