Men's Basketball Pushes Past John Jay

New York, N.Y. (12/12/17) – The Kean University men's basketball team picked up their second win of the season by topping host John Jay College by the final of 80-73.

Justin Watson led the Cougars with a 25 point performance, a career-high.  Both teams left The Doghouse with a 2-6 record.

Kean pushed out to a double-digit advantage in the first-half with a 12-0 run as rookie Adrian Baucum hit back to back jumpers to start the run and Watson ended it with one of his seven treys on the night for a 21-10 lead with 10 minutes to go.  The Bloodhounds chipped away and actually regained the lead at the break with a slim 33-32 advantage.

Watson had nine first-half points while Baucum added eight.

The Cougars took the lead for good on the backend of a pair of free-throws from Baucum with 11:46 to go in the contest.

Baucum had 20 points and six rebounds on the night while Micah Kerr recorded 14 points.

Kean returns to action on Saturday when they host the College of St. Elizabeth in non-conference action at 1 p.m.
