WAYNE, N.J. (2/2/19)- Jailen Jamison totaled a game-high 23 points as the Kean University men's basketball team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest to William Paterson University, 80-69 on Saturday afternoon.
Domenic Mignone finished with 20 points for the Pioneers who improve to 13-9 overall and 8-7 in the NJAC. Micah Kerr and Nate Lyles both tallied 10 points apiece for the Cougars who fall to 5-17 overall and 3-12 in the NJAC.
The Cougars opened on a 16-9 run and stretched their lead to the largest of the game at 18-10 with 8:58 remaining in the first half. The Pioneers climbed back into the contest with an 18-13 run that gave WPU the 27-26 advantage with 3:07 remaining. Paterson extended their lead with a 9-3 run, but Jared Latane scored the final five Cougar points to trail 36-33 at the break.
The second half saw the Cougars unable to climb out of the halftime deficit as the Pioneers eventually stretched their lead to 70-56 and never looked back. Jamison scored 18 of his 23 points in the second half.
Kerr added five boards, while Lyles grabbed four rebounds. Jodrell Thompson finished with eight points and six rebounds
Head Coach Adam Hutchinson and the Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 6th, hosting the Ospreys of Stockton University at 8:00 p.m.
