Men’s Basketball Falls in Ken Wright Invitational Championship Game to Host Amherst

AMHERST, Mass. (11/17/18) - Jailen Jamison and Micah Kerr were both named to the All-Tournament team as the Kean University men's basketball team fell to host Amherst College, 101-52, in the Championship game of the Ken Wright '52 Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Fru Che totaled 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Mammoths who improve to 2-0 overall. Kerr and Jared Latane both scored 12 points for the Cougars who fall to 1-3 overall.

Kean took an early 5-0 lead with back to back buckets by Nate Lyles. Amherst broke the game open with a 16-7 run to take a 28-17 lead with 5:54 remaining in the first half.

The Mammoths took their momentum and their hot shooting into the second half as Amherst extended their lead to 68-36 with 12:02 to play. The Mammoths shot a blistering 65.7% from the floor and 68.8% from behind the arc in the second stanza.

Kendall Blount finished with eight points, while Lyles totaled seven. Jamison pulled down six boards and dished out three assists.

Head Coach Adam Hutchinson and the Cougars will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 20th, hosting the Gothic Knights of NJCU for their home and NJAC opener at 8:00 p.m.
