Last Second Basket Downs Men’s Basketball Against Staten Island

UNION, N.J. (12/11/18) - Micah Kerr finished with 28 points as an Adeola Latunji layup with five seconds remaining downed the Kean University men's basketball team against the College of Staten Island, 66-65 on Tuesday evening.

Christian Taylor totaled 25 points for the Dolphins who improve to 4-6 overall. Jailen Jamison finished with 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocks for the Cougars who fall to 1-9 overall.

The Cougars opened with a 16-6 lead after using a 13-1 run that included seven points from Kerr. The senior was a force on the low block in the first half with 21 points on 10-for-13 shooting. CSI countered with a 15-9 run to cut Kean's advantage to 23-21 with 9:04 to play.

Kerr scored another six points in the final nine minutes and Kean hung on to the 36-30 halftime advantage.

The second half saw both teams' trade baskets and the lead before a Jamison three point play, a Justin Watson triple and two free throws from Kerr gave the Cougars a 64-58 advantage with 3:14 to play.

The Dolphins closed the game on an 8-2 run that included just one field goal attempted.

Jodrell Thompson finished with seven points and nine rebounds, while Nate Lyles totaled eight points, five rebounds and three assists. Watson added five boards and five assists.

Head Coach Adam Hutchinson and the Cougars will return to action in Atlantic City, N.J. on Friday, Dec 14th, against the Ospreys of Stockton University at 7:30 p.m.
