UNION, N.J. (12/29/18) - Jailen Jamison finished with 20 points, six rebounds and four steals as the Kean University men's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest to Stevens Institute of Technology, 67-54 on Saturday afternoon.
Michael Zignorski scored a game-high 27 points and made seven triples for the Ducks who improve to 8-2 overall. Justin Watson totaled 13 points for the Cougars who fall to 2-11 overall.
After an opening Jared Latane layup, Stevens led wire-to-wire in the victory. A low scoring first half saw Kean hang around for most of the opening stanza. Watson completed a four point play as the Cougars trailed 23-21 with 2:06 remaining. The Ducks closed the half on a 5-0 run and led 28-21 at the break.
Zignorski had 16 of Stevens 28 points at halftime.
The Ducks opened the second half with a 22-11 run that pushed their advantage to the largest of the game at 57-39 with 7:22 to play. Despite falling behind, Kean outscored Stevens 22-11 over the final 7:22. During the run Jamison scored 10 of his 20 points as the Cougars brought the lead down to 63-54 with less than two minutes to play.
Latane added 10 points and three rebounds, while Marquis Major tallied seven boards and three assists.
Head Coach Adam Hutchinson and the Cougars will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 5th, hosting the Pioneers of William Paterson University at 1:00 p.m.
