Men's Lacrosse Rallies For Season Opening Win

Arlington, Va. (2/24/11) – The Kean University men’s lacrosse team rallied in the fourth period to defeat host Marymount University, 5-4, in the 2011 season opener for the Cougars.

Trailing 4-3 heading into the fourth period, sophomore Tom Clifford tied things up at four-all as he took a pass from fellow sophomore Ryan Buerkle.  Junior Nick Angrisani (pictured left) then scored the game-winner with just under six minutes to go in the matchup, his second goal of the night.

The Cougars (1-0) led early, heading into halftime with a 3-1 lead.  Kean notched two goals (Richard Cheifitz, Angrisani) in the first period and another in the second (Todd Petrone).

Sophomore Lane Zierten earned the win in goal.  He made 10 saves, playing the entire 60 minutes.

Kean remains on the road and will face #3 Stevenson University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
