Men’s Lacrosse Overpowers Arcadia in Season Opener

UNION, N.J. (2/25/15) – The Kean Univerrsity men's lacrosse team rolled past Arcadia University 13-2 in both teams' 2015 season opener on Wednesday night. 10 different Cougars scored on the frigid night, with another two chipping in with assists.

Everything clicked in the first half for the Cougars. Kean scored the first nine goals of the game and had a 5-0 lead after the first quarter. Anthony Carpenter already had a hat trick by halftime, and six other Cougars scored one goal each. Among those six was freshman Tom Kelly, who notched his first collegiate goal at 8:48 of the first quarter with an assist from Carpenter. Anthony Rybek and Eric Talbot also had helpers in the first half.

Kean was content to play keep-away in the second half and allowed just one goal over the final 30 minutes. Maxwell Fields had a fine day in the cage for the Cougars, making 13 saves for an .867 save percentage.

Junior Elden Andrews (pictured left) and freshman Denzel Thompson both scored their first collegiate goals for Kean as well during the contest.

Mike Criscitello won seven faceoffs for Kean and led Kean in both ground balls (7) and forced turnovers (2), while Ed Adams won his only opportunity at midfield as well.

Joe Stanton and Ryan Donovan scored the only Knight goals.

The Cougars will remain home this weekend and host Western Connecticut State University on Saturday at 1 p.m. inside Kean Alumni Stadium.
