Men's Lacrosse Powers Past Privateers

UNION, N.J. (4/2/16) – Senior Matt Speciale led the Kean University men's lacrosse team to a 14-6 victory over SUNY Maritime with five goals and two assists at home on Saturday afternoon. It was both teams' first Skyline Conference action of the season.

Kean (6-3, 1-0) set the pace by scoring seven goals in the first quarter. The Cougars finished the first half up 10-3 over the Privateers. Kean never trailed and had mercy by scoring three goals in the second half of the game.

Matt Brodley finished with a goal, two assists and four ground balls. Anthony Perrotta and Brian Mills scored twice. Anthony Carpenter, Joe NortonNeil Bortolus and Eric Talbot each put away one goal on the afternoon for the Cougars.

Ed Adams recorded seven ground balls, one assist and went 15-19 on face offs. Ciro Ulinski (pictured left) picked up four ground balls and led Kean with two caused turnovers.

Goalkeeper Maxwell Fields had nine saves on the afternoon for the Cougars, tallying his sixth win this year.

Brendan McNally played in goal for SUNY-Maritime for a total of 45 minutes, tacking on 13 saves. McNally is now 5-3 on the season and 0-1 in conference play for the Privateers (5-3, 0-1).

The men's lacrosse team will travel to FDU-Florham on Wednesday for an inter-conference matchup with the Devils at 7 p.m.
