Men’s Lacrosse Bounces Back with Convincing Victory over Hanover

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (3/16/19) - Jack Bushey and Daniel Lee combined for 10 points on five goals and five assists as the Kean University men's lacrosse team bounced back with a convincing 16-7 victory over Hanover College from Indiana at Bellarmine University on Saturday afternoon.

Bushey and Jake Frankovits each tallied a hat-trick for the Cougars who improve to 2-1 overall. Ian Kimmins finished with six points on four goals and two assists for the Panthers who fall to 3-3 overall.

After giving up the first goal of the game, Kean recorded six unanswered goals to take a 6-1 advantage with 4:09 remaining in the second quarter. Bushey and Frankovits each notched two goals during the run, while Lee assisted on both second quarter goals for the both juniors.

In the second half, the Cougars extended their lead to 10-3 with goals by Mike Snellen, Bushey and Frankovits with 10:54 remaining in the third. Lee would score his first goal of the afternoon with the final goal of the third as Kean led 11-4.

The fourth quarter saw the Cougars push their advantage to 10 goals at 14-4 with scores by Cole Blackley, Snellen and Lee. Ben Smith capped off Kean's scoring with the final goal of the afternoon and the first goal of his career.

Kean edged Hanover on shots (47-21), faceoffs (18-9) and groundballs (38-26).

Snellen and Blackley both finished with two goals and one assist, while Tyler Roberto added one goal and one assist. Jason Andreadis, Kevin Dolan and Danny Bill each added an assist. Dolan and Bill each recorded their first career assists

Defensively, Matt Palmieri finished with 11 groundballs and five caused turnovers, while Snellen totaled six groundballs. Connor Baucom collected five groundballs and went 16-for-22 on faceoffs. Tyler Foss and Max McNicholas both finished with two groundballs and two caused turnovers.

Head Coach Shelley Sheiner and the Cougars will return to action in Madison, N.J on Wednesday, Mar. 20th, against the Devils of FDU-Florham at 7:00 p.m.
