Full Team Effort Powers Men’s Lacrosse Past Centenary

UNION, N.J. (4/10/19) – Tyler Roberto and Mike Snellen combined for eight goals as the Kean University men's lacrosse team powered past Centenary University, 18-6 on Wednesday evening.

Roberto added five assists for the Cougars who improve to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Kyle Mott scored three goals for the Cyclones who fall to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the CSAC.  

Snellen tallied two goals over the opening eight minutes, but Kean only led 3-2 after back-to-back goals by Centenary's Mott. The Cougars closed out the opening quarter with four straight goals, including two from Kyle Ryder, to extend Kean's lead to 6-2 at the end of the first quarter.

Snellen and Roberto would each notch a goal before halftime as Kean held a 9-3 advantage. The Cougars opened the second stanza with another four straight goals to increase their halftime lead to 13-3 with 8:09 remaining in the third. Kean extended their lead to 15-5 as Roberto completed his hat-trick with 41 seconds remaining in the third.

The fourth quarter saw Danny Bill score his first collegiate goal and both Justin Regester and TJ Sharples each notch their first goals of the season.  

Jake Frankovits, Cole Blackley, Kevin Dolan, Jason Andreadis, and Matt Palmieri were all credited with goals. Blackley tallied three assists, Frankvoits totaled two and Ryder, Matthew Schwartz, and Tommy Pellegrino each tallied one.

Palmieri totaled seven groundballs, while Tyler Foss and Greg Castor scooped up four. Matt Tanis, Roberto, Regester, Max McNicholas, Ryder, Connor Baucom, and Sharples each collected three groundballs apiece.

The Cougars totaled 55 shots and 56 groundballs with just 15 turnovers. In addition, every single Cougar that was dressed saw action in tonight's contest.  

Head Coach Shelley Sheiner and the Cougars will return to action on Saturday, Apr. 13th, hosting the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University for Senior Day at 1:00 p.m.
