19 Cougars Tally a Point as Men’s Lacrosse Dominates Johnson & Wales (RI) on Senior Day

UNION, N.J. (4/13/19) – 19 Cougars recorded at least one point as the Kean University men's lacrosse team dominated Johnson & Wales University, 23-4 on Senior Day.

Mike Snellen totaled six points on four assists and two goals for the Cougars who improve to 8-4 overall. Kyle Mangan finished with 22 saves for the Wildcats who fall to 3-11 overall.

Kean dominated from the opening whistle, scoring nine goals in the first half including two goals by Cole Blackley and three assists from Snellen. Nick Fischetti scored his first goal of the season and Kean was well in the driver's seat with a 9-1 halftime advantage.

The Cougars continued to pump in goals as Kean notched another 10 in the third quarter alone and increased their advantage to 19-3 entering the fourth. Michael Shapiro capped off the third quarter scoring with his first goal of the season. The fourth quarter saw the Cougars add another four goals and was highlighted by Jack Kapcsos and Bryce Berger each tallying their first career points.

Jake Frankovits, Blackley, Kevin Dolan, Kyle Ryder, Fischetti and Danny Bill all joined Snellen with two goals on the afternoon.  Connor Baucom went 16-for-20 on faceoffs with 10 groundballs and recorded an assist. Ryan Sieb made nine saves in 45 minutes of work, while Michael Yukas and Zach Koehler both saw action during the fourth quarter.

Snellen, Steven Thorne and Tyler Foss all collected four groundballs, while Greg Castor totaled four caused turnovers and three groundballs.

Before today's game, Head Coach Shelley Sheiner and his staff honored Snellen, Foss, Tyler Roberto, Sieb, Forrest Terpe, Max McNicholas, Dolan, Jason Andreadis, Baucom and Tyler Brandt for their hard work and dedication to the program.

Coach Sheiner and the Cougars will return to action on Tuesday, Apr. 16th, hosting the Gators of the Sage Colleges at 7:00 p.m.
