BRONX, N.Y. (10/16/18)- On October 7th, the Kean University men's lacrosse team traveled to the South Bronx to run a free clinic for a group of sixth graders from Bronx Lacrosse.
The clinic was organized by Head Coach Shelley Sheiner and Bronx Lacrosse Director Danny Leventhal. Sheiner and Leventhal became close friends after being involved with the Israeli Lacrosse Association.
The sixth graders learned a variety of skills from the Cougar student-athletes, including cradling, stick handling, field awareness and defense all in the shadow of the famed Yankee Stadium.
"Kean Athletics and especially the men's lacrosse team is all about community service", stated Sheiner.
Leventhal formed the program in 2016, after searching for a way to connect with his students at the Highbridge Green School located in the Bronx.
"We are very grateful for Coach Sheiner and his players to donate their time to help grow the game in the Bronx and we look forward to working with them in the future" stated Leventhal.
