Men's Soccer Falls to Roanoke, 3-2

Hoboken, N.J. (9/9/11) – The Kean University men's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season as they fell to Roanoke College, 3-2, Friday evening at the Stevens College Classic.

With the loss the Cougars fall to 1-1-2 on the season while Roanoke improves to 3-0.

Trailing 1-0 after an early Maroon goal, the Cougars responded to tie the match as sophomore Tiago Goetzke netted his first goal of the season in the 34th minute.

The score would remain that way before three goals were scored in the span of five minutes, deciding the outcome of today's action.  The Maroons went ahead with 15 minutes remaining before Kean tied the match for a second time as freshman Tulio Pinto (pictured left) hooked a free kick at 78:34.  But Roanoke would decide the match just 36 seconds later off a corner kick to seal the win.

The Cougars return to action on Saturday in the Stevens College Classic when they face the College at Brockport at 5 p.m.
