Men's Soccer Stopped by MSU

Montclair, N.J. (9/27/17) – The Kean University men's soccer team suffered a 7-3 defeat to Montclair State University on Wednesday evening in New Jersey Athletic Conference action.

In an offensive barrage of an evening, the teams combined for 37 shots (23 MSU, 14 Kean).

Kean (4-4-1, 0-3 NJAC) tied the game at one-all on a penalty kick goal from Alex Noriega.  He would assist Nicholas Sica six minutes later with a pretty free kick that was finished as a header by Sica, giving the Cougars a 2-1 lead.  MSU (6-3-1, 2-1 NJAC) knotted the game up with a header from Chaz Burnett and Burnett would give the Red Hawks a lead they would not relinquish to close out the first half.

MSU then carried that momentum into the second period, outscoring Kean 4-1 the rest of the way.

Noriega had a hand in each tally with two goals and an assist.  Keeper Bryce Horn stopped 11 shots in the loss.
