Union, N.J. (10/28/17) – Stockton University scored late to break a one-all tie and advance in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament by the final of 2-1.
Nick Cristea served a direct kick into the box that was saved by Derek Phells. Phells was hit in the head and was down in the box when Ervin Gjeli found a loose ball that bounced off a Kean defender and punched it in for what would be the game-winner.
Kean (10-7-1) scratched across the first goal of the night as rookie Vinceroy Nelson finished a hard cross from Danny Guillen in the 55th minute. The Ospreys (14-3-4) tied things up 20 minutes later as Cristea served a pass from the far left flag that found John Maxted for the equalizer.
Phells recorded eight saves on the night while Kellen Groover had one.
Stockton travels to take on top seeded Rowan on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in semifinal action.
