Reyes and Santos Score as Men’s Soccer Defeats Brooklyn in Season Opener

UNION, N.J. (8/31/18)- A goal in each half sparked the Kean University men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Brooklyn College in their season opener on Friday evening.

Erick Reyes and Jake Santos each notched a goal for the Cougars who improve to 1-0 overall. Stewart Bailon took two shots for the Bulldogs who fall to 0-1 overall.

Kean dominated on shots posting 26 for the contest, including north of 10 shots per half. The Cougars broke the scoreless tie in the 38th minute, when Reyes scored off a cross from Antoine Gbamou.

Kean answered again in the second half, when Santos dribbled up and ripped a shot from about 20 yards out.

The Cougars also edged the Bulldogs on corner kicks, 11-1

Alex Nicol took a game-high six shots, while Felipe Lucas tallied five. Danny Guillen, Ramesses Moore-McGuinness, Matthew Almeida and Santos all totaled two shots apiece.

Head Coach Peter-John Falloon and the Cougars will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 4th, hosting the Panthers of SUNY Old Westbury at 7:30 p.m.
