Second Half Goal Downs Men’s Soccer Against Keuka

ALFRED, N.Y. (9/9/18)- A late second-half goal downed the Kean University men's soccer team against Keuka College, 2-1, in the finals of the Bryan Karl Alumni Soccer Tournament hosted by Alfred University.

Samba Doukhansy and Claude Tuyishimire scored goals for the Wolves who improve to 2-3 overall. Felipe Lucas notched the only goal for the Cougars who fall to 3-1 overall.

Kean struck first in the third minute when Lucas curved the ball around the wall which came off a free kick opportunity. Keuka answered in the 12th minute to even everything at 1-1 after a defensive breakdown.  The score would remain unchanged into halftime with the Cougars leading 8-6 on shots.

The second half saw Kean extremely aggressive to score with 23 shots taken. The Cougars failed to capitalize as Keuka eventually punched in the game-winner in the 63rd minute.

Lucas recorded a match-high 13 shots, while Matthew Almeida totaled four shots. Alex Nicol, Ramesses Moore-McGuinness and Jake Santos all tallied three shots apiece. Derek Phells played all 90 minutes and made three saves in the loss.

Head Coach Peter-John Falloon and the Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 12th, hosting the Bears of St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) at 7:30 p.m.
