UNION, N.J. (9/19/18)- After 110 minutes, nothing was decided as the Kean University men's soccer team and Ursinus College played to a 1-1 double overtime draw.
Phil Lopes scored the game-tying goal for the Cougars (4-2-1), while Jacob Helwig scored the lone goal for Ursinus (0-4-2).
An extremely tight and physical contest saw the Bears brake the scoreless tie in the 74th minute. Kean answered three minutes later as Alex Nicol floated a free kick into the box, where a streaking Lopes headed the ball into the back of the net.
The game eventually entered both overtimes, where neither team could collect the golden goal and the Cougars notched their first tie of the season.
The goalkeepers did tremendous work in net with Brandon Lillian totaling eight saves and Malcom Moreira collecting six saves.
The Cougars edged the Bears on shots (21-16) and corner kicks (10-7).
Head Coach Peter-John Falloon and the Cougars will return to action in Camden, N.J. on Saturday, Sept. 22nd, against the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers-Camden at 1:00 p.m.
