Lone Goal Propels Men’s Soccer to First NJAC Victory over NJCU, 1-0

UNION, N.J. (9/26/18) - A lone goal from Felipe Lucas propelled the Kean University men's soccer team to 1-0 victory over New Jersey City University on Wednesday evening.

Damjan Agaj and Matthew Almeida both assisted on the game-winner for the Cougars who improve to 5-3-2 overall and 1-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Theo Sanoh tallied six shots for the Gothic Knights who fall to 5-4 overall and 0-3 in the NJAC.

Kean's lone goal came in the 29th minute, when Almeida dribbled up field and made a quick pass to Agaj. Agaj one-timed it to Lucas, who took a step and ripped a shot from 15 yards out.

The Cougars dominated on shots (25-12), but were even on corners (5-5). Kean had 25 fouls called against them, while the Gothic Knights were issued two cards.

Lucas and Alex Nicol both took five shots apiece, while Ramesses Moore-McGuinness tallied four. Dylan Evande, Agaj, Erick Reyes and Justin Homer all totaled two shots each. Derek Phells made five saves in 90 minutes of work.

Head Coach Peter-John Falloon and the Cougars will return to action in Glassboro, N.J. on Sept. 29th against the Profs of Rowan University at 7:00 p.m.
