NEWARK, N.J. (10/20/18)- Ramesses Moore-McGuinness scored the lone goal as the Kean University men's soccer team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest to Rutgers-Newark, 4-1 on Saturday evening.
Anthony Oliveira tallied a hat-trick for the Scarlet Raiders who improve to 8-8-1 overall and 3-5 in the NJAC. Derek Phells made eight saves for the Cougars who fall to 5-8-3 overall and 1-6-1 in the NJAC.
Kean led 1-0 in the opening minute when Felipe Lucas fed the ball into the box and Moore-McGuinness scored on the Cougars very first shot of the contest. Newark finished the game with four unanswered including three from Oliveria.
Rutgers edged Kean on shots (19-8), while the Cougars edged the Scarlet Raiders on corners (3-2).
Head Coach Peter-John Falloon and the Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 24th, hosting the nationally-ranked Red Hawks of Montclair State University for Senior Night at 7:30 p.m. Before Wednesday's game, Coach Falloon and his staff will honor seniors Phells, Nicholas Sica, Erick Reyes, Jimmy Lima, and Matthew McAvoy.
