JERSEY CITY, N.J. The Cougars' John Cunningham swung .400, Ed Jedziniak served three clutch aces to end the match and the defense had nine blocks while holding the Gothic Knights to a .187 hitting percentage.

Kean won each set decisively, 25-20, 25-20 and 25-21. The Cougars are now 5-6 on the year (1-0 in the Skyline), while NJCU has played seven matches and is still looking for its first victory.

The first set was tight and tied 10 different times; the last at 18-all. Rosario broke the tie with a kill and then Tom Kemmerle had a big ace for the Cougars' 23rd point that helped deliver the victory. Cunningham's kill ended that set.

The second was never close, but in the third the Knights put up another good fight. That was tied as late as 21-21, but Jedziniak served his three-consecutive aces to help the Cougars secure the match and end it on a 5-0 run.

Kean will return home on Saturday to host a Skyline quad match. The Cougars will take on Purchase College at 12 p.m. followed by the Sage Colleges at 2 p.m.
