MAHWAH, N.J. (2/24/16) – With first-place in the Skyline Conference on the line, the Kean University men's volleyball team topped Ramapo College 3-1 on Wednesday night in a battle of unbeaten Skyline teams.
The Cougars are now alone in first-place in the Skyline Conference with a 5-0 league record (11-5 overall). Ramapo is now 5-1 in the Skyline and 6-8 on the season.
Kean racked up 15 blocks on the night and three Cougars – Tommy Rosario (18), Jacob Kauffman (14) and Bill Fischer (10) - all racked up double-digit kills. Fisher picked up the first double-double of his career with 11 digs in the match as well.
Kean and Ramapo split the first two sets, and were knotted at 24, 25, 26 and 27 in the pivotal third set. On the 55th point, Ramapo made an error to give Kean its sixth set point in the third. Rosario got an assist from Kevin Barrow to finallydeliver the set for the Cougars and put them in the driver's seat.
The Cougars won the fourth set 25-16 to win the match.
Barrow (pictured left) led the Kean attack with 46 assists. Fischer's total of 11 digs led the team, and Nick Breslin was right behind with 10. Rosario had seven total blocks and Nick McIntyre had five.
Kean will host Keuka College and Bard College on Friday night beginning at 6 p.m.
