Incredible Rally & Record-Tying Performance Highlight New Hampshire for No. 7 Men’s Volleyball

NASHUA, N.H. (2/18/17) – The No. 7 Kean University men's volleyball team topped Regis College after losing a spirited five-set thriller with host and 13th-ranked Rivier College in New Hampshire on Saturday.

The Cougars are now 11-5 on the year. Rivier – the fifth Top-15 team the Cougars have played thus far in 2017 -  improved to 5-5 with the win. Regis is now 4-6.

Against the Pride in their third match in less than 24 hours, Kean won a tight first set, 26-24 after scoring seven-straight points to come back from facing quintuple-set point at 24-19. Dylan Flor served throughout the rally, which included an ace to knot the score at 24, a kill by Steven Zarzycki to take the lead and a kill by Jared Warner to complete the remarkable comeback with the win.

In all, Kean scored a whopping 16 consecutive points after starting off the second set with a 9-0 lead and went on to win that set handily, 25-13. Regis took the third set 23-25, but Kean righted the ship and won going away 25-17 to earn the victory.

Kean played a classic with the Raiders earlier in the day, falling in five sets. Overall, Zarzycki led Kean with 29 kills combined on the day with a .535 hitting percentage. Capp handed out 52 assists and Kevin Barrow added 49. Nick Breslin had 16 digs, while Zarzycki, Flor and Warner were also in double-digits in that column. Warner and Barrow led all players with six blocks each.

Kean will continue its run of ranked opponents on Thursday when they host defending national Champions and currently fourth-ranked SUNY New Paltz at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
