Men’s Volleyball Caps Fourth-Straight Perfect Skyline Season with Sweep

BRONX, N.Y. (4/7/17) – The Kean University men's volleyball program earned its sixth-straight Skyline Conference Regular Season Championship with sweeps of New Jersey City University and the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Friday night.

The Cougars finished the regular season 9-0 in Skyline matches and 24-8 overall. Kean has won 74-straight Skyline matches, and will go for number 75 when the team hosts the Skyline semifinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

If victorious, the Cougars will host the Skyline Championship Match at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 15.

Ian Capp had six aces over the two Friday matches and also led the team with 55 assists. Jacob Kauffman added another four unreturned serves.

Kean out-hit the Dolphins and Gothic Knights .267 to .082 on Friday evening. Steven Zarzycki (19) and Kauffman (15) both broke double-digit kills, and Kamil Garbowski had eight in three sets with a .545 hitting percentage. Jay Bynum and Jared Warner hit .500 and .400 even, respectively.

Nick Breslin came up with 14 digs, and Shayron Taylor (pictured left) had six blocks, including two solos. Jacob Milnazik and Nick Buseski both added seven kills to the Cougar stat sheet, while Dylan Flor kicked in six.

The winner of next week's Skyline Tournament will earn the conference's automatic bid into the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship.
