Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Earns AVCA Academic Awards

LEXINGTON, Ky. (7/18/18) – The Kean University men's and women's volleyball teams earned an American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for its classroom performance in the 2017 -18 school year.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

973 teams earned the award this year, breaking the previous year's total of 835 and setting a new all-time high.

Over 1,000 different schools have earned the award in the program's 25-year history, with exactly 8,461 awards been given out in total.

Last season, the women's team won 28 games and captured their first NJAC title since 2001. The men's squad won 34 games and captured their seventh straight conference title.
