#4 Men’s Volleyball Tops CVC Preseason Poll

UNION, N.J. (1/9/2019) - The #4 Kean University Men's Volleyball team has been picked first in the Continental Volleyball Conference Preseason Poll.

"We are excited for the season and looking forward to challenging ourselves with a very competitive schedule.", said Head Coach Charlie Ginex. "We look to build on our prior year successes and will focus on getting better every day. We are confident if we can stay the course and remain focused that we will see results when it counts." 

The nationally ranked Cougars totaled 132 points and received 11 first place votes. Marymount has been slotted second with 114 points, while Southern Virginia placed third with 107 points. Juniata has been tabbed fourth with 104 points and one first place vote, while Eastern Mennonite rounded out the top five with 95 points. The rest of the poll is as follows: Rutgers Newark (86), Ramapo (77), Randolph-Macon (59), Elizabethtown (50), Cairn (46), Immaculata (23) and Neumann (23).

Last season, Kean posted a 12-1 record in conference and captured both the CVC regular season title and the conference championship. The Cougars won their seventh straight conference title and made their seventh straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Kean will look to make it eight straight as Harwood Arena and Kean Athletics are hosting the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball National Championship on Apr. 26-27.   

Coach Ginex and the Cougars will open the 2019 season on Friday, Jan. 18th in Rochester, N.Y. against Elmira College in the St. John's Fisher Classic at 6:00 p.m.
