MONTCLAIR, N.J. (5/4/18)- The Kean University softball team recorded just two hits as top seed TCNJ posted a 10-0 shutout to eliminate the Cougars from the 2018 NJAC softball tournament on Friday afternoon.
The Lions improve to 30-6 overall, while the Cougars fall to 26-12 overall.
Alanna Namit improved to 16-0 with another dominating performance in the circle for TCNJ with six strikeouts and only two allowed hits. Olivia Zengel and Kaitlin Stahlbrand were the only Cougars to tally hits in the contest.
TCNJ totaled 10 runs on the 13 hits, including an eight-run top of the fifth and a grand slam from Jess McGuire. The Cougars return home to Union, while the Lions will advance to tomorrow's matchup with Ramapo College at 11:00 a.m. The winner earns a spot in the NJAC title game on Sunday.
