Women's Basketball Cruises Past Bridgewater State, 106-82

Daytona Beach, Fla. (12/29/11) – The Kean University women’s basketball team cruised to their 10th win of the season as they defeated Bridgewater State University, 106-82, in the Land of Magic Classic held at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Junior Naimah Clemons led all players with a double-double 33 points and 12 rebounds, along with six assists.

After a back-and-forth affair in the first four minutes of action, the Cougars (10-2) then sprinted out to a 29-12 lead after a 19-4 run in a five minute span.  Clemons provided eight points in the span.  Kean then poured on the points as they headed into the locker room with a 63-34 lead at the break.

Clemons recorded a good day’s work in the first 20 minutes with 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists.   Senior Erika Jones (pictured left) added 12 points and six rebounds.

The Cougars then paced the second half, maintaining at least a 20 point lead throughout.  Kean led by as many as 32 points as junior Kyanne Sager netted a fast break layup with 12:33 to go.

Jones finished with a season-high 23 points and eight rebounds while senior Brianna Winston added 13 points in the win.

Kean takes on Vassar College at 2 p.m. on Friday.
