Women’s Basketball Falls to Stockton

UNION, N.J. (2/10/18) - Cindy Foresta collected a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds as the Kean University women's basketball team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest to Stockton University, 71-59 on Saturday afternoon.

Najha Treadwell finished with 20 points and 19 rebounds for the Ospreys who improve to 16-8 overall and 12-5 in the NJAC. Lorenzah Hammer totaled 12 rebounds and eight points as the Cougars fall to 9-14 overall and 6-11 in the NJAC.

Kean led for most of the first half, as the Cougars stretched their lead to the largest of the game at 25-18 with 3:30 remaining in the second quarter. Stockton would erase Kean's lead with a 13-2 run over the final 3:10 of the first half to lead 31-27 at the half.

In the second half, Stockton used their size and took high percentage shots to run away with the game late. The Ospreys shot 52.8% from the floor and got a combined 30 points from Treadwell and Sasha Williams.

Kean was able to cut the Stockton lead to as close as two points midway through the second half. The Cougars trailed by three points at 57-54, before an 8-0 run stretched the Stockton lead to 65-54. Kean was outscored 14-7 in the final 6:22, including a combined 12 points from Williams and Treadwell.

Lea Mendolla and Sammi Dabbundo each scored 11 points for the Ospreys. Latice Cunningham totaled nine points, six steals and five assists, while both Payce Lange and Casey Filiault totaled eight points apiece.

Head Coach Mandy King and the Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 14th, hosting the Pioneers of William Paterson University for their regular-season finale beginning at 6:00 p.m.
