Glassboro, N.J. (1/9/19) – Cindy Foresta collected a double-double as the Kean University women's basketball team fell to Rowan University by the final of 71-58 in NJAC action on Wednesday night.
The Profs (8-7, 6-2 NJAC) used a strong fourth quarter, outscoring Kean 24-8, to regain the lead for good. Alexis Kriley scored eight points in the frame on her way to a game-high 21 on the night.
After falling behind 2-0, the Cougars (6-9, 3-5 NJAC) quickly took the lead and pushed the advantage out to double-digits by the end of the first 10 minutes as Sarah Olivero nailed a trey with one second on the clock.
Back-to-back free throws from Danielle Oakley pushed the lead out to 13 early in the second quarter, but Rowan chipped away while holding Kean to just five points in the frame, and tied things up at 29-all at the break.
It was a see-saw battle in the third quarter with four ties and four lead changes.
Rowan tied the game up at 52-all with seven minutes to go in the contest and took the lead for good on a Nicole Byrne trey 32 seconds later.
Foresta finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds while freshman Keidy Laureano registered four points and 10 rebounds. Rookie Shannon McCoy had a team-high 15 points for the Cougars while adding five rebounds in 32 minutes of action.
Kean returns home to face The College of New Jersey on Saturday at 3 p.m.
