Women's Basketball Tops NJCU

Jersey City, N.J. (1/16/19) – Rookie Shannon McCoy dropped a career and game-high 28 points as the Kean University women's basketball team dispatched New Jersey City University, 69-64.

The Cougars improve to 8-9 overall and even their record at 5-5 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play.  NJCU drops to 4-13 this season and 1-9 in NJAC action.

The Gothic Knights collected an early 6-2 lead behind four points from Miesha Bacon but that would be the only lead they would take in the contest as Kean quickly knotted things up at six-all on a jumper from McCoy and less than a minute later taking the lead for good on a layup by Danielle Oakley.

The Cougars started off the second half on a 12-3 run to push out to their largest lead of the day (46-34).  McCoy provided six points in the spurt while classmate Aniyah Moore added four.

Junior Payce Lange ended the game with a double-double 12 points and 11 rebounds while Moore finished with six points and four blocks.  Casey Filiault ended the night in double figures with 12 points.

Kean looks to carry the momentum as they travel to face Montclair State University on Saturday.
