Montclair, N.J. (1/28/19) – The Kean University women's basketball team led or were tired wire-to-wire in an 83-65 win over Montclair State University in rescheduled New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup on Monday.
Rookie Shannon McCoy led the way with a game-high 30 points while adding seven rebounds.
With the score knotted at 10-all the Cougars (9-11, 6-7 NJAC) used a 6-2 run to close out the first quarter and in turn took the lead for good. Kean ended the second quarter just like the first turning a 12 point lead into a 21 point advantage at the break. McCoy's jumper with time expiring ended the run.
Junior Payce Lange gave Kean their largest lead of the day (22 points) with back-to-back layups to start the third period. Lange would finish with 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Casey Filiault contributed with 13 points and five rebounds off the bench as the Cougars held a 47-42 rebound advantage while shooting 42%.
Kean returns home to face Ramapo College on Wednesday.
