Women's Basketball Pushes Past Ramapo

Union, N.J. (1/30/19) – Rookie Shannon McCoy led all players with 24 points as the Kean University women's basketball team rebounded from a slow start to top Ramapo College by the final of 74-58 on Wednesday evening in NJAC action.

McCoy's 24 points included five treys as well as four rebounds.  Jenna Harsh led the Roadrunners (9-12, 4-10 NJAC) with 22 points and nine rebounds.

Ramapo raced out to an 11 point advantage (15-4) just five minutes into the contest as Jessica Repasy nailed a trey with 5:35 to go.

The Cougars (10-11, 7-7 NJAC) then found their rhythm and tied things up at 19-all with one second to go in the quarter on a free throw from Casey Filiault.  It was Filiault again who gave Kean the lead for good with her three-pointer with 8:01 to go in the second stanza.  Kean took a six point lead into the locker room at halftime.

Payce Lange quickly pushed the advantage out to double-digits with a layup just over a minute into the action in the second half. The Cougars then cruised from there, pushing the lead out to as many as 18 points late in the contest.

Filiault finished with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists while senior Danielle Oakley added 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and six steals.  Lange rounded out the double-digit scoring with 12.

Kean travels to William Paterson University on Saturday.
