Pitman, N.J. (2/4/19) – Freshman Shannon McCoy has been tabbed the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week as announced on Monday.
McCoy earns her second consecutive NJAC Rookie of the Week honor - and third in the last four weeks - as she led Kean to three conference wins over the last week. She averaged 25.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.7 steals to help keep the Cougars in playoff contention, as they are currently 8-7 and in a three-way tie for fifth with three games remaining.
She opened the week with 30 points on 11-for-25 shooting in a win over Montclair State. She added seven rebounds and a pair of steals and assists. She followed up with 24 points on 8-for-14 shooting, including going 5-for-8 from long range, in a win over Ramapo. She chipped in four rebounds, two assists, and two steals, and hit all three free throw attempts. McCoy wrapped up the week with 22 points on 8-for-21 shooting including four threes in a win over William Paterson. She added three boards, and an assist and steal each.
McCoy has catapulted up the stat rankings, and is now fifth among all NJAC players in conference-only scoring (15.9 ppg) and fourth in conference-only made threes (2.0/game).
