Ewing, N.J. (2/9/19) – Conference leading The College of New Jersey pushed past visiting Kean University by the final of 73-64 on Saturday afternoon in New Jersey Athletic Conference action.
The Cougars (12-12, 9-8 NJAC) have one game left in the regular season at home against Rowan University on Wednesday.
Tied at four-all early in the first quarter, the Lions (16-8, 14-3 NJAC) sprinted out to a double-digit lead on a 15-2 run to take a lead they would not relinquish. TCNJ widen the gap to as many as 23 in the waning seconds of the second stanza and took a 43-23 lead into the break.
Kean battled late and pulled the deficit back down to single digits with under a minute to go in the contest, but late free throws sealed the win for the Lions.
Rookie Shannon McCoy led all players with 30 points while playing all 40 minutes. Shannon Devitt led TCNJ with a double-double 25 points and 13 rebounds.
