Pitman, N.J. (2/18/19) – Freshman Shannon McCoy was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week as announced on Monday.
McCoy captures her fourth NJAC Rookie of the Week honor after putting up huge scoring numbers in a pair of games that led Kean into the NJAC Tournament and then to an upset of six-time defending champion Montclair State in the first round. She scored 33 points, including 12 at the free throw line, and added five rebounds, five steals, and three assists in a regular season finale loss to Rowan. She went 10-for-19, including 5-for-10 from long range, en route to a game-high 29 points to upset MSU and give Kean its first NJAC Tournament win since 2013.
McCoy is the league's top-scoring rookie - and ranks fourth among all NJAC players - with 16.4 points per game. She also ranks second among all NJAC players with 2.3 made threes per game.
