Women's Basketball Falls in Season Opener

Brooklyn, N.Y. (11/13/18) – Junior Payce Lange poured in a team-high 28 points as the Kean University women's basketball team fell in the season opener to Brooklyn College by the final of 68-58.

Lange added five steals and three rebounds while playing in 33 minutes of action.

The Cougars (0-1) struggled offensively out of the gate, shooting just 20% in the first quarter as the Bulldogs (1-0) went on a nine point run to break a seven-all deadlock.  After falling behind by double digits, Kean would claw their way back, trailing by nine on three separate occasions in the final period, but Brooklyn was able to control the lead and finish the game shooting 52% in the win.

Senior Bre Spencer finished the night with seven rebounds while classmate Danielle Oakley added nine points, five assists and five rebounds.  Rookie Shannon McCoy collected nine points, four rebounds and four assists in her collegiate debut.

Kean returns to Union for their home opener on Friday in day one of the Kean Classic.
