Spencer's Double-Double Leads Women's Basketball Past Ohio Wesleyan

Daytona Beach, Fla. (12/21/18) – The Kean University women's basketball team led or was tied from wire-to-wire as they topped Ohio Wesleyan University by the final of 65-60 on Friday afternoon in the Daytona Shootout.

Senior Bre Spencer led all players with a double-double 17 points and 11 rebounds with five steals in 36 minutes of action.

The Cougars (5-6) sprinted out to a 20-6 first quarter lead and pushed out to their largest advantage in the second period twice as they led by 21 points. 

Ohio Wesleyan (7-3) trimmed the lead to single digits in the final seconds of the first half and held the deficit to single digits for the next 12 minutes, pulling as close as two (47-45) with 7:57 to go in the fourth.  Kean responded with back-to-back treys and was able to hold on down the stretch for the win.

Payce Lange finished with 15 points while rookie Sarah Olivero added 10 points and six rebounds.

The Cougars enjoy a short break and return to action on Sunday, December 30th when they host Marymount University.
