Marymount Pushes Past Women's Basketball

Union, N.J. (12/30/18) – Marymount University shot 50% on their way to defeating host Kean University by the final of 73-55 in non-conference women's basketball action on Sunday afternoon.

Rookie Shannon McCoy led the Cougars (5-7) with 19 points and six rebounds.  Roselle Catholic product Tyffani McQueen led the Saints (9-4) with 21 points and five steals in front of a large hometown crowd.

Marymount led for over 39 minutes of action, using 46 points in the paint to help their cause. 

Kean's only lead of the day came in the second quarter as Bre Spencer's layup put the Cougars ahead, 23-22.  The Saints countered with a mini-surge and not only regained the lead for good, but pushed the advantage out to double-digits for the first time in the contest.  Marymount led at the break, 42-31.

The Saints held a comfortable lead throughout the final 20 minutes, leading by as many as 21 in the fourth quarter.

Katie McShea missed a double-double by one rebound as she collected 20 points and nine rebounds for the visitors.

Junior Payce Lange registered 11 points while Aniyah Moore and Cindy Foresta pulled down a collective 14 rebounds.

Kean finishes their non-conference slate when they return to action on Thursday, January 3rd when they travel to Lehman College.
